Evaluation of Machining Performance of Acacia melanoxylon and Micheliamacclurei Wood
The wood machining (including the planning, shaping, drilling, mortising, sanding, and turning) performance of two hardwood species of ,Acacia melanoxylon, and ,Michelia, macclurei, grown in China were evaluated. The results showed that two species had excellent machining performance, except that the drilling properties of the ,Acacia melanoxylon ,was between the first excellent and second good level. The overall machining performance was graded at the excellent level. The machining performance of ,Michelia, macclurei, wood were better than that of the ,Acacia Melanoxylon, wood. Both two species of wood can be used for the manufacturing of furniture and other high value-added solid wood products.
