Abstract

Three traditional methods of wood species retreival methods including the manual comparison, the bisection search, and the punch-card retrieval system are reviewed. The computer database programs are also described. In order to conduct online intelligent retrieval system for conifer species, the authors developed an intelligent retrieval system for wood species using computer vision technologies. The structure and flow chart of the intelligent retrieval system were presented in this article. Suggestions on future research to conduct intelligent retrievals were proposed and discussed.
