Effect of Size on Compressive Strength Parallel to the Grain of Cross-Laminated Timber Made with Domestic Larch
The compressive strength of cross-laminated timber made by Chinese larch was tested based on the standard of GB/T 50329—2012 on testing methods for timber structures. The weakest-link theory was used to analyze size effects of CLT 's compression strength parallel to the grain. The nonparametric statistics method was used to estimate the coefficient of the size effect. The result showed that the compression strength decreases with the increase of either the length or the width. And there is a significant linear relation between the coefficient of the length effect ,S,L,and different percentiles; the coefficient of the width effect ,S,W, was 0.349; there is no significant relation between the thickness and the compression strength parallel to the grain.
