In order to improve uncertainty, constraint and precision of production planning and scheduling for customized panel furniture companies, the authors proposed a solution of process level real-time scheduling and workshop level order distribution control. Based on an analysis of process load and equipment capacity, a real-time scheduling algorithm was developed to adjust relationship between the capacity and the load in time. The order allocation control algorithm was used to calculate the load of producing orders and granted orders and to decide whether new orders, urgent insertion orders and extra orders were needed. Application of the production planning and scheduling in a panel furniture production line showed significant improvement in production flexibility and efficiency.
