The authors made scrimber samples with impregnated poplar veneer at different moisture contents(8%,12%,16%,20%) to evaluate the effects of veneer moisture content on heat transfer and properties of the scrimber samples. The results showed that the maximum temperature in both surface and core layers, as well as heating rate of the scrimber with the same densities, all decreased when the moisture content increased. When the moisture content was around 12%, wettability, surface roughness, water resistance and bending strength of the scrimber samples reached the highest.
