Shear wall is the main element to resist lateral force in Japanese-style post-and-beam structures, whose performance is affected by nail connections. Specimens of sheathing nail connections were manufactured based on Japanese-style shear wall and tested in monotonic and cyclic loading in groups.Load-displacement curves and bearing capacity were recorded during failure. The load-displacement curves and skeleton curves of the hysteresis curves were then fitted by an exponential function using the least square method. We found that performance of the nail connections with Larch plywood and Radiata pine/Poplar combination plywood all worked very well with similar bearing capacity, but was influenced by loading conditions.
