The authors made a compressed composite wood from poplar veneers that were first impregnated with phenolic-formaldehyde resin, dried at different temperatures, and finally pressed into a compressed wood. The effect of drying temperature of the impregnated veneers on the properties of the compressed wood was analyzed. The results showed that when the drying temperature were 60,7,0 ℃, the compressed wood had superior properties including water resistance, modulus of rupture, modulus of elasticity and horizontal shear strength.
