To realize high value-added utilization of valuable hardwood species, Juglans mandshurica and less-commercially used softwood species Ginkgo biloba, wood machining properties of the two species from planted forests were evaluated, respectively, according to forestry industrial standard LY/T2054-2012. The results showed that sanding, shaping and turning performance of Ginkgo biloba were excellent with good planning, boring and mortising performance. Planning, shaping and mortising of Juglans mandshurica were excellent with other general machining performance. The comprehensive machining properties of Ginkgo biloba were better than that of Juglans mandshurica.
