In order to effectively impregnate Chinese fir from plantations,a multifunctional silicate resin modifier was prepared and used to treat the wood through a repeated pressure/vacuum impregnation technology.Density of the modified wood could reach 0.550,0,.650g/cm3 with antiswelling rate of 45%,5,0%.Compared with control wood,modulus of rupture,abrasion resistance and flame resistance of the modified wood were all improved by more than 50% with modulus of elasticity increased by more than 70%.These results indicated that the modified wood was suitable for making high-value added solid wood products.
