Phenolic foam panels overlaid and reinforced with fire-retardant fiberboard or/and nonwoven fabrics were prepared.Mechanical properties and combustion performance of the panels were all tested.The experimental results showed that low surface strength of the phenolic foam panel was much improved when overlaid and reinforced with fire-retardant fiberboard which resulted in a unique nature of wood materials.Furthermore,the compressive strength,flexural strength and impact strength of the reinforced panels met the Industry Standard JC/T 1051-2007 requirement for"Aluminum foil face rigid phenolic foam sandwich panels".
