Effects of category, usage and main components of flame retardants on smoke toxicity of wood-plastic flooring treated with the selected flame retardants were tested by animal contamination. The results showed that the lowest smoke toxicity of wood/plastic flooring tested was the one treated with flame retardant containing aluminum hydroxide(Al(OH)3).As more of the super fine aluminum hydroxide was used, the higher was the smoke toxicity safety level.Smoke toxicity safety level of tested samples, made with optimized manufacturing technology developed by the authors, could meet the requirements of quasi security(ZA1)of the Chinese National Standards GB/T 20285-2006《Toxic classification of fire effluents hazard for materials》.
