Iodopropargyl butyl carbamate(IPBC)has demonstrated a great potential in wood preservation. In order to improve the bacteriostasis of IPBC,IPBC was modified by substituting its R group with 4–chlorophenyl,3,4-dichlorophenyl,4-p-tolyl and 4-methoxybenzene substituent and as a result obtained four kinds of IPBC derivative. The results showed that the bacteriostasis of 3-Iodo-2-propynyl 3,4-dichlorobenzene carbamate was better than that of IPBC and that of 3-Iodo-2-propynylp-chlorophenyl carbamate was comparable to IPBC.The mold resistance of 3-Iodo-2-propynyl 3,4-dichlorobenzene carbamate was better than IPBC and pentachlorophenol sodium, while the mold resistance of 3-Iodo-2-propynylp-chlorophenyl carbamate was slightly worse than pentachlorophenol but better than IPBC.The results of laboratory decay resistance of two derivatives were better than IPBC,but worse than that of tebuconazole.
