The authors developed a fuzzy adaptive Proportion-Integration-Differentiation(PID) temperature control system for wood-plastic extruder. According to measured temperature distribution curves,a temperature model for the barrel was established by parameter identification. An application test showed that this system could improve heating speed and temperature control accuracy,reduce overshoot and have a good adaptability to the external disturbance,compared with a conventional PID control system.
