摘要:16% of Australian land is covered by forests with 125 million ha. forested area. Industrial plantation forests accounted for 1.6% of the forested areas but provided over 80% of wood production in the country. Characterized by long-term investment value and stable return, forest resource normally is one of the important sections for global financial corporation/institute, EPSecially by pension funds, to allocate their investments. Industrial plantations in Australia attracted over 5 billion A$ foreign investments in last few years. China is Australia’s largest trading partner and became No. 1 foreign direct investment source to Australia in 2014. As two highly complementary economies, China and Australia have signed a free trade agreement(Ch AFTA), which entered into force on 20 th December 2015 and will provide more opportunities of trading between the two countries and investing in Australian forestry.

摘要:In order to coat Robinia pseudoacacia wood with paint, chromatic parameters and film performance of the wood coated with polyurethane varnish, acrylic lacquer and polymerized Chinese lacquer were evaluated. The results showed that Robinia pseudoacacia wood presented excellent coating performance with all three paints. The lightness index L* of the coated wood showed a downward trend with polymerized Chinese lacquer declined obviously. The color saturation C*ab of the coated wood all increased. Total chromatism ΔE*ab of the wood coated with polymerized Chinese lacquer showed the biggest varying breadth while the wood coated with polyurethane varnish showed the smallest varying breadth. The film performance of the coated wood could meet requirements of first-grade or second-grade of National Standard GB/T 4893 and GB/T 15036-2009. The film wear ability and hardness of the wood coated with polyurethane varnish showed the best performance.
摘要:The authors developed an electrical heating system for engineered flooring with sliced bamboo veneers as the surface layers, Eucalyptus saligna plywood as a substrate, and a carbon fiber electrically heating paper laid between the surface layer and substrate. The effects of adhesive type, hot-pressing time, electrically heating paper type and the surface layers of bamboo veneer as well as their interaction effects on bond strength and thermal dimensional stability of the flooring were all evaluated. The results showed that when the modified melamine formaldehyde resin was applied with NL-110 type paper, two surface layers of bamboo veneers and hot pressing time at 2.0 min/mm, both of the bond strength and the dimensional stability of the flooring were improved.

摘要:In order to expand the application of low-density wood-based panels, the authors developed a new kind of composite by using poplar particles and foamed polystyrene. Veneers were further overlaid on the composite to improve mechanical properties. The results showed that the bonding strength and modulus of rupture of the composite panels were greatly enhanced while density was maintained at 0.45 g/cm3. Mechanical properties of the composite panels met the A-grade requirements for Chinese National Standard GB/T 4897.1-2003 so that the panels could be used for furniture making, interior decoration and thermal insulation.
摘要:Physical and mechanical properties of Manglietia fordiana, imported from Burma, were tested and the strength of the timber was evaluated. The results showed that the density and shrinkage of the timber had a medium bending strength-weight ratio of 163.5 which met the strength requirements for TB13 of Chinese National Standard GB 50005-2003.

摘要:The authors collected global patent literature on scrimber manufacturing from wood and/or bamboo and analyzed the overall tendency, technology classification, geographical distribution, active applicants and key patents. They compared patenting activities between China and the rest of the world and made suggestions on future technology innovation and patent strategy development in the field.
摘要:The authors developed a manufacturing technology and equipment to make 4 10 mm thick veneers. The key techniques included veneer peeling, tendering and drying were described. The properties of plywood, laminated veneer lumber and wood-bamboo composite made of the thick veneer were presented. The novel manufacturing technology may provide a new solution for making use of thick veneer.

摘要:In order to improve leaching resistance of copper-based wood preservatives, the authors collected and summarized relevant literature on wood treatment such as surface modification, pretreatment and post-treatment, and adding additives such as proteins, tannic acid, rosin and silicasol. Suggestions were made for development of copper-based wood preservatives with better anti-leach ability.
摘要:The authors made an identification test on wood names for 10 pieces of solid wood furniture from furniture markets in Beijing. They appealed that the wood name should be accurately signed according to the relevant National Standards. They also suggest furniture manufacturers and sales agencies increase their knowledge and use standard wood names for solid wood furniture, so as to protect consumers and to promote the healthy development of the wood furniture industry.
摘要:In order to better use waste veneer, the authors selected waste poplar veneer from a plywood production line and a melamine-modified urea-formaldehyde resin to make parallel strand lumber(PSL). The experimental factors studied included glue consumption,hot pressing temperature,hot pressing time and panel density. The properties of the PSL were then tested. The results showed that optimal manufacturing technology parameters obtained were 300 g/m2 glue, 130 ℃ hot-pressing temperature, 75 s/mm hot-pressing time and 0.60 g/cm3 panel density. The physical and mechanical properties of the PSL made by the optimal manufacturing technology parameters were excellent with less than 1.5 mg/L formaldehyde emissions, which met the E1 specification of the national standard GB 18580-2001.
