Physical, Mechanical Properties and Mold Resistance of Bamboo Modified by Plasticization
In order to improve mold resistance and dimensional stability of bamboo and bamboo products,Moso bamboo samples were treated with a compound plasticizer containing low molecular weight unsaturated acid and ester by a vacuum-pressure impregnation process. Weight percent gain(WPG),dimensional stability, mechanical performance and mold resistances of the samples were then tested.The results showed that average WPG was 25.6%; the dimensional stability and compression strength parallel to the grain improved and mold and stain fungi resistance nearly reached 100%.
