16% of Australian land is covered by forests with 125 million ha. forested area. Industrial plantation forests accounted for 1.6% of the forested areas but provided over 80% of wood production in the country. Characterized by long-term investment value and stable return, forest resource normally is one of the important sections for global financial corporation/institute, EPSecially by pension funds, to allocate their investments. Industrial plantations in Australia attracted over 5 billion A$ foreign investments in last few years. China is Australia’s largest trading partner and became No. 1 foreign direct investment source to Australia in 2014. As two highly complementary economies, China and Australia have signed a free trade agreement(Ch AFTA), which entered into force on 20 th December 2015 and will provide more opportunities of trading between the two countries and investing in Australian forestry.
